Walk The Line Or Cross It!

Midway has decided to bring back its hit 1988 arcade classic Narc. However this time it is in a full 3D environment with lots of guns, a full story line, and a bunch of glitches. Midway chose Point of View to develop Narc. That is right Point of View the developers behind such great games as: Spawn Armageddon, The Scorpion King, Smash Drive, and many other worthless games. However it appears as though Point of View actually tried on this title. Did I mention it is also $20.

Features:

  • Play as 2 characters
  • Badge Rating System
  • Gun and Hand-to-Hand Action
  • Take and Deal Drugs
  • 1988 Arcade Version Unlockable.
  • $20 budget title.

Gameplay

In Narc you play as two narcotics officers, Jack Forzenski (Michael Madsen) and Marcus Hill (Bill Bellamy). The story is simple, a new drug has been introduced to the streets and you are out to investigate it. Story starts with four easy steps. 1.)Drug-dealer surround by cops. 2.)Drug-dealer shot up. 3.)Drug-dealer takes “new” drug. 4.)Drug-dealer rampages. Followed by this you take down the drug-dealer and try to figure out what just happened.

To find out about this new drug you will go through a series of missions that will have you interrogate dealers, shoot everything to hell, snipe down enemies, listen in to conversations, flip switches, and follow people slowly around and hope they don’t see you. All right so I have pretty much told you everything you do, however there is much more. The story line unfolds more and more as you keep completing more missions. There are also sub-missions that will have you doing random things for no apparent reason. In general however this game is a run and gun style of play.

The real interesting part of this game however is the Badge Rating System. The rating system pretty much tells you if you are being a good or bad cop. Good means you are busting people and doing your job correctly. Why be good when you can be bad and take drugs, sell drugs, kill everyone in town, and arrest random people. When ever you do bad cop items your badge rating will fall, if it falls to much then you will be taken off the case, and if you let it fall way low you will lose your job. This system throws a little more strategy into game, now add a pretty decent fighting system with pretty cool combos and the game gets even better.
